Machines in our community make industry more efficient and productive. Given that low-skilled jobs require precise work, the frequent inaccuracies of workers decreases efficiency and production, while the quick labor of financial calculation and bar code scanning improves productivity by decreasing error. Back in the old days, the human cashiers had to calculate the consumers’ price tags manually, thus frequently making calculation errors, which decreased the productivity and efficiency of the labor. Now, the calculating feature that is installed in the electronic cash register machine boosts the calculation accuracy. In addition, the bar code scanning feature eliminates frequent error that occurs when inserting the price value for the calculation. Both electronic calculation and bar codes improve speed as well as accuracy, since the cashier need not punch in prices or add up costs. In this way, the machines eliminate the chance of making inaccurate errors and prevent the cashier from having to enter costs by hand, which enables customers to be processed more quickly. Because fewer cashiers can process more customers, the grocery store’s productivity increases with electronic cash registers.

In addition to offering efficiency, the machines also bolster our community to new levels of advancement. These machines can generate more advanced jobs for the human laborers, by replacing the low-skilled tasks formerly performed by human laborers. One example is the machine programmer, or the machine operator. As the machines replace low-skilled human workers for better efficiency, new job openings, such as the machine programmer, would be in demand. With the employment of  unemployed employers, these workers can utilize their knowledge on the low-skilled jobs to devise more advanced machines that can bolster our industry’s efficiency. Since these new jobs require more knowledge-based work rather than simple low-skilled tasks, acquisition of these new jobs can result in advancement in our society. In addition, these less mindless jobs can strengthen the advancement of our community. Since employees apply their logic and consciousness to program the machines, less mindless tasks are involved in the machine programming job. And since more thinking and logical reasoning of the members of the community always leads to advancement, our community will be more advanced as the new occupation of human workers involves thinking and logic-based reasoning. 

Despite the improvement in efficiency and job openings in society, the technological advancements in the machines may decrease social interaction among people in our society. Given that social interaction fosters benevolence among people, the replacement of the human employees might  eradicate the benevolence shared among workers and thus decrease the overall humanity in society. Even mindless tasks and low-skilled jobs require conversation and communication, and a simple dialogue between employees can accumulate over time to germinate the workers’ affection and sense of belonging to each other. Although it is true that the replacement of human employees with machines deprives people of social interaction, efficiency is more crucial for the economy than humanity. Furthermore, not only would the machines benefit the economy, but they would also allow people to continue to socialize in the new, higher-level jobs that open up as a result of the replacement of lower-level jobs with machines. Because the advancement of the these machines bolsters our society’s efficiency, job openings, and does not ultimately detract from our humanity, machines should replace human workers for our society’s benefit.

Development of the machines will bring positive influences to our society. Some of the most representative spirits of America has been “equality” and “diversity” for the past few decades. Convinced by different activists, Americans accepted the “diversity” of people under the spirit of “equality”. Now that time has passed and the world changed, we now need to accept the identity of machines and let them be part of our modern society. Despite the fact that these machinery are certainly different from the humans, there are some benefits that these machines could provide us; machines can replace the hazardous and do what humans can’t well enough. However, some might rebut that the replacement of people by machines might replace part of our own humanity with machinery too. They also viewed the replacement as counterproductive, citing that ”even our mundane daily encounters no longer require from us basic courtesy, respect, and tolerance for other people.” The point is though, that these jobs that machines are replacing are the jobs that does not require any courtesy, respect, and tolerance. In fact, they’ve only replaced the jobs that does not require any humanity. To give an example, the low-skill or precise work that needs to be done in high speed does not really require basic courtesy nor respect. Even with the human workers, all they do for these jobs are to incessantly repeat the task that they are given, just like the automated machines. And when the machines take over these monotonous tasks over humans, they can be much more productive in their task, while not letting any humanity go away. Our society must accept the machines under the spirit of diversity; machines could definitely become part of our community by replacing some human jobs.
